UI VC RECEIVES THE 1987 GRADUATING SET OF THE DEPARTMENT OF SPECIAL EDUCATION

The 1987 Graduating Set of the Department of Special Education, University of Ibadan (UI) paid a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abel, Idowu Olayinka, FAS during a recent reunion organized by the set. Speaking on the occasion of the visit, the team leader, who is also the Dean of the Faculty of Education, Prof. Julius A. Ademokoya resounded the nostalgic feeling with which they remember their days in the University and their alma mater which contributed in no little way, to what they are today. He stated that the visit was to appreciate the virtue, scholarship and character inculcated into them by the University and also to give back through mentorship and other means. The Vice Chancellor, who was represented by the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Prof. Ademola Dasylva warmly welcomed members of the 1987 set back to their Alma mater. He expressed his great joy and pride at the way they have turned out well comported, matured and appreciative. He stated that the University has not remained on one spot, but has been expanding further and further in terms of its programmes, scope and physical structure, as the demand arises, despite serious funding challenges, especially as subvention from the government continues to be inadequate. He challenged them to continue collaborating with their alma mater to enable others coming behind them also enjoy what they benefitted back in their days in the University, and also to ensure that the position of UI as a lead University is sustained. He commended their efforts at giving back to the University while also enjoining other sets to emulate them. The Vice Chancellor, Prof. A.I. Olayinka, FAS was represented by the Dean of Arts, Prof. Ademola Dasylva. Others at the occasion were the Deputy Registrar Training and Development, Mrs. Stella O. Soola, who represented the Registrar, Mrs. Olubunmi O. Faluyi, Dr. Taiwo Akinde who stood in for the University Librarian. The Provost of the Post graduate College was represented by the Deputy Provost (Academic), Dr. Kayode Samuel. Also present were the Director, Directorate of Public Communications, Mr. O.M. Oladejo, Mrs. Moji Omisade, who represented the Director, University Advancement Centre and the Deputy Director, Office of the Vice Chancellor, Mr. O.O. Dada among others.
